East Wing - Jack's Rooms

<Another mohagony door swung silently open with the tick of a lock, and they were in the Manor.>

<It was quite different from times before. They were downstairs, now, in a cozy little sitting room. Everything was dusted and polished, lowlit in warm tones and a dusky red color.>

<Geneva was settled on the hearth, reading a book of poetry by Frost. Jack had taught her how - to read, mind - and she was very curious about his books. She tagged along behind and read almost everything he did. Somewhat bizzare beheavior.>

Geneva.

<Softly spoken to the elf, along with a light nod toward Chance.>

Can you please prepare a tray of tea and have it sent to my room?

<He was careful to remain expressionless as the little creature bobbed upwards and blinked at Chance with confusion in her bright eyes. But she asked no questions and scampered off to the kitchen.>

<Being genuine meant that little things could bring out warm senses of appreciation in him; upon seeing Geneva and the exquisite novel she was absorbed in, the once downturned cupid's bow of his lips lifted and formed an alarmingly sincere, comfortable smile. Unique though the sense of abating fear and chasing security was, he still found it welcoming.>

<The scenery was gorgeous and perfect in its arrangement. It almost made his eyes sting as they roamed greedily over the fine contours and woodwork, the aesthetic quality in simple design craft.>

Thank you.

<He blinked slowly at the teen, and continued quietly leading him out of the sitting room and down a wide hall, the portraits whispering softly. Up a staircase, then, sweeping and with plush fabric underfoot, and through another hall littered with doorways to one very much the same as all the rest.>

<Easily, then, the teen was led up two steps onto the platform Jack's bed was on, and settled down into the softness therein.>

<If he lingered too long in the gentle hug of mattress molding around his body, all would be forgotten for the prospect of sleep and mere scene of that facade in front of him. For several moments, his breath stilled against the pillow, eyes fallen into a softly erethral hue. Chance felt the distinct sensation of falling several stories every time his lashes dipped and threatened to spill the words upon his tongue. Such an interesting feeling, all this, likely an acidic combination of happenings.>

<Chance slipped his good hand beneath himself and pushed up a little bit, overhang of black shielding his eyes.>

There's a bathroom in here, right? A bath?

Yes, there is.

<He once more slid that arm beneath the teen, gently tugging the lanky frame upward, and led the teen into the bathroom.>

<It was enormous. The bathtub was more of a pool, similar to the Prefect's bathroom, and was raised a few steps from the bathroom floor. It was on something of a balcony - glass covered three walls and the roof, revealing a cloudy sky and dark forest.>

<Most of his weight fell onto the one arm circled around Jack's for support, while the other scored down a bare torso to unhook the loose clasp of borrowed trousers riding low 'pon the smooth ridges of light hips. All it took was a gentle sway and shift for Chance to slide out of them and place the garment neatly onto the counter, after donating a small thankful thought Muraki taught at school; it cut him a hospital visit and made the attire so much easier to return.>

<From there, Chance was free to let Jack guide him as the older man saw fit. Though he wasn't spilling fourth a wealth of gratitude and apology from his tongue, it all existed in the movements and way he gently balanced weight between the ginger movements towards the tub and limb circled around his company.>

<He sighed, the knobs twisting as he extended a magical 'push' toward them. Softly scented water filled the pool, cinnamon and sugar and spice... pleasant, relaxing.>

<Fingers brushed lightly down the bared torso, grip reaffirming itself along the slim waist as he led the teen to the tub and allowed the lanky body to slide into enveloping warmth and conservative bubbles.>

<Jack wasn't going to join him, not unless asked... It didn't seem quite right. The soft glow of a magical orb on the wall was the only light, moon and stars obliterated by a cloud cover.>

<Cold air flooded his senses imediately, hot water climbing inches of skin during his descent into the pool. It seemed to wash into every lacerated area and breathe a deticated sting into sore muscles, humming alongside a hiss Chance hadn't noticed himself utter. The settle that followed? That was breathtakingly soothing, seemed to draw the sixth year down into a dizzy maelstorm of perfect relaxation.>

<His grip on the tub sides relaxed, head falling gently forward for that soft fall of dark hair across his face as every breath took him closer into that envelop of calm. What was more, the dirty feeling was wearing off as well.>

Will you be alright alone?

<He was going to go help Geneva with the tea, if Chance could manage by himself.>

<The soft ambiance of the room itself was soothing, and he could see the wear on that lithe frame. It was painfully obvious how much Chance was hurting. Even Jack couldn't just ignore it.>

Where are you sleeping?

<Wishful thinking. Chance thought the water might consume him for the way he was sinking down into the tub, elbows bracing his weight on either side. Yet, from the chin of his downturned face south, the sixth year had submerged himself into careful warmth and let his eyes fall shut for darkness, one in which he was free to contemplate the several levels of pleading in that question .. it wouldn't do to become instantaneously lonely.>

<Loneliness led to isolation. Isolation led to self-doubt. Self doubt led to doubt of security, and from there, he'd drive himself back into the living room for some sort of light and another pair of eyes. It was nice to indugle.>

I'm not going to sleep, just to check on Geneva. But if it's all right, I'm going to sleep with you tonight.

<From his settled position at the edge of the marble tub he leaned down, fingers running lightly through dark hair, and pressed a kiss to Chance's temple.>

Or you can have a guest room, if you like.

<He would offer, of course, to be polite. Something not often found when it came to Jack and his fucktoys, but Chance was in a rare form tonight. Absolutely deserving of some spoiling, after all the shit he'd been through.>

<Another cinch hit in the center of his chest, one that had nothing to do with the injuries procured earlier that day. Tubwater slick fingertips bit a little harder into the marble as he leaned his head to the side, swathed in irony and lulling scents as he delved a little deeper into the water and stared at a generous slice of rounded moon painted onto its faintly rippling surface. Chance wondered how long he could inhale the substance before asphyxiation.>

<Enough sense came in as blue sharpened once more, pinpricks of pupil soaring back towards Jack. Chance blinked as though he hadn't heard him, and then lifted his lips from the water to speak.>

No. I want to share a bed with you.

<Excellent phrasing. In fact, he turned right back to the projection upon the water and started staring again. Eventually, it started to distort and shine from the focus used on said image; only in his eyes, mind, only from strain.>

All right. I'll be back in a few minutes.

<Another vague lean, and he tapped a set of small glass bottles.>

Shampoo is in these. And there's a cabinet there - I found your soap.

<Not surprising. Jack was good with scents, and that was a very pleasant one.>

It's for you to use, so feel free.

<He stood with a languid, feline grace and moved across the room with all due elegance, a spot of dark against rose carerra marble. The soft click of a door opening and closing, and the silence of footsteps moving away.>

<After the click of the door, nothing. Several seconds later, nothing. And then finally, the silence shattered like scattering glass as water splashed faintly into the air; the hand Chance had been resting on the side of the tub had simply thudded into the water and left him blinking rapidly in its wake. His bandaged one was still levitated, while still mobile fingers flowed through the drift of water and distorted the impression of both moon and sky further.>

<His soap. That lavender scent washed into his skin since the early baths of toddler-hood. Things like that held a weight that Chance long believed himself unable to conceive around certain presences, and Jack was the epitome of that. His eyes slid over to the familiar packaging and fingers followed, unraveling the bar to dip it back into the same warm, comforting water he sat in. This meant something. Not entirely good.>

<The rest of the bath was self-administered in silence. Shampoo carefully applied and rinsed from dripping dark strands, and where the bathroom's essence was swathed in lavender, one could tell he'd made use of the cleanser as its property was strongest upon his skin. Water drained and left him sitting in the empty tub, knees drawn to chest and arms wrapped tightly around; Chance kept his weight on the back of the basin against his spine to prevent any unecessary pain, and just stared up at the scape of sky provided through perfectly scrubbed glass.>

<Soon enough, the stars melted into an overexposed photograph's grey and left him locked within his own thoughts. Jack would come back when the tea was ready, or whenever just to make sure he hadn't drowned, whereas until then, the sixth year was glad to shut his mind off.>

<Twenty minutes - he'd asked Geneva to leave the tea and a plate of very pleasant biscuits which would likely not be touched in the bedroom. Then he'd waited for as long as he dared to allow the teen some privacy whilst he cleaned up, reentering the bathroom to a scent rather calming.>

<It had been right, then. Faye'd given him the brand name, of course, using her access to the Prefect's bathrooms. Clever girl, there.>

<A soft green towel was taken from a pile of clean articles and carried to the lanky teen, the cloth draped over damp shoulders.>

<Silent, then, the third offer of hand that night. He was being remarkably helpful.>

<Remarkably. But soothing minutes in the tub seemed to have washed his understandable shock away for something more aimed towards self-preservation. Chance wrapped a hand around the offered and allowed his weight be hoisted back into standing, stumbling but once while climbing back over the marble barrier and back onto tile. From there, the towel was easily shifted and tucked to hug around the lower of his hips rather than shoulders .. he did retain a slight air of modesty for these things -- or perhaps after Laurent, it had sharpened in shame.>

<That didn't stop the hesitant ghost of fingers along the upper part of Jack's arm while turning back towards the bedroom. Support. Everything, now, was about support.>

<He wrapped an arm easily around the lithe waist and guided the teen back into the bedroom, up the two steps onto the platform that held his bed, and let the teen settle on the comfortable matress.>

<After that, it was small effort to move with that silent grace to the tray, pour a cup of steaming, dark tea for Chance with only the soft rush of fluid on porcelain.>

It's decaffinated.

<Meaningless words, in a way, mere information as he handed the temperate cup to the teen. Geneva had a knack for getting beverages just right - this was a mixture of teas, predominantly orangish, and at just the right temperature. Wonderful little femme-creature.>

<Azure was shaded, carefully expressionless, and lips were arranged into a calmly smooth set.>

<Decaffinated or not, neither mattered to him. The point was, this was hot liquid, the sort that when the glass was placed to his lips, steam branched out around and donated the pleasnt fragrance across his cheeks and beneath tired eyes. Even the obvious scorch upon his tongue was ignored if only to ingest it; almost imediately, Chance fell back to the pillow and set his mug back down on the bedside table, sighing cooly into the atmosphere.>

<As predicted, tea took care of the internal discomfort. Half-mast, the deep, gale-ridden pools of irises slid over towards Jack and merely focused their glassy attention on him. Perhaps one of those expertly skilled Legilimenses would be apt at decyphering the quality of mind thriving and processing beneath, but by all appearences .. it was just a stare. Neither confused nor assured, but not in the least cold. Something from the trip back from the hospital to the masquerade ball, after Alita's third attempt and now here had broken the usual frost Chance kept when looking at him.>

<Strange. Like a portrait tipped at a different angle, one that held millions more views.>

<He didn't miss the look, not the quality or the gloss.>

You should get to sleep.

<Spoken carelessly as he shed the outer layer of clothing, which was all there was, really. Nudity didn't bother Jack, didn't always denote sex, and the pull of blankets over that admirable form was almost a shame. Just the bare climb beneath covers, body beneath said fabric pressed comfortingly against that on top of the same material.>

<Logical suggestion, though.>

<Chance had more than done his share of talking for the night. He watched soundlessly as Jack shifted beneath the bedclothes, hesitated a few moments while shrinking underneath himself - after discarding the towel, mind you -, and suddenly slid forward on the bed enough to wrap both arms gingerly around the man's midsection. Chance wasn't exactly sure how badly that would reflect on the current inner battle, but once he felt the contours of another body pressed into his own, all those little insecurities seemed to melt away. Jack..was comfortable, that was all that mattered.>

<He easily fitted the teen against his own form, falling into a cozy half-sleep with the utmost grace, breath soft against Chance's hair.>

<For once, he wasn't going to steal all the blankets and shove the teen off. Chance... needed this. As corny as it sounded, Jack couldn't help remembering the look in the teen's eyes after [Jack] had shown him the memories.>

<Black was quick to coat him in a sheet of oblivion. But a squeeze, and Chance's breathing had fallen into the soft lull of deep, submerged sleep. Apparently he'd really managed to pull it out between the struggle of not screaming and even walking around after that awful ordeal, and this just topped it off. Sleep, for the insomniac.>

All alone in space and time, there's nothing here, but what here's mine.
Something borrowed, something blue,
Every me and every you."

Like the rain, this too shall pass
Like a kidney stone, this too shall pass
It's just a broken heart, son,
This pain will pass away

"mother nature's a whore,"
said the shotgun to the head;

<Eight, nine, ten hours before he awoke with a softly whining moan and arched against the body so near, yawning. The cool morning sunlight filtered through curtains, and a cursory glance around the room caught the angle. Perhaps ten in the morning?>

<Sort of like waking up after a hangover. If you discounted the headache and concentrated hate for all things living and the sunlight, but there was a swift pain at the base of his spine and equal soreness for the hand Chance couldn't move more than a few centimeters at a time without crying out. He sufficed a childish moan of protest into Jack's shoulder before turning over and staring at the ceiling.>

<The ceiling without a charming pane of moonlight to signal a the deep quiet of evening. It was that next day. That dreaded, terse, sore 'next day'. Chance whined once more for good measure as he set to rubbing both eyes with one hand and turned over .. this meant he'd have to explain a little more.>

Nn.

<Mumbled incoherently into a pillow as Jack shifted onto his stomach, face buried in fragrant cotton.>

Eeet appuhn?

<'What happened' respectively, spoken quite neatly into the cushion as one hand scratched idly at his hip. Jack was a morning person, yes, but he was feeling somewhat lethargic today. Perhaps it was the company?>
