what do you do when you think someone's a tedious tit and needs to be banned?
kudos for getting rid of the git, but really, you guys were much too patient with her - she needs to go back to aol where they can't ban her.
where is a list of administrators we can talk to?
How do i deal with ooc telepathy - ie, people picking things out of my post as if i said them aloud when they are marked as an action? When can i
identify it as real telepathy, is there any way to do so, since i know for a fact there was telepathy in the books as canon?

I can't think of an elegant, question-like way to ask it, but what about god-moding? there should be a section for subtopics of things in rp that
bother me. It's only happened like, what, twice that someone's complained about an abuse of power? But that should still be there.
..different though when it's two admins. Uhmmm. Okay!

Yes. Please, please put god-moding and all powerful charrie's on there. Those things have come up a few times and tend to make rp rather
unpleasant for all involved.

Hmm, I don't know if its worth putting on the FAQ, but I have another question I'd add Art. Were Hogwarts defenses mostly a product of
Dumbledore or are there wards and things to prevent people coming in and kidnapping, torturing or beating up students?

You should address house points in the FAQ. at least mention that nobody's vigilant about keeping up with them?
ooooh yeah. also, maybe addressing the levels of knowledge that new characters would probably have, issues in cultural differences, things like that.

It looks like there are two sections of FAQs here:
Hogwarts and Book related
and
Kinkwarts and the technical aspect.
I can deal with that... yes.. there'll just be two sections.
I have just peeked at my schedule for the next week. It is death. Perhaps after honors promn next Saturday [Ooooh Art has a hot dress! Just no hotdate! *pouts*] I shall take a look at this.. the next week. I'll get it done, I swear!!
Oh, and could I please have a few definitions of 'god modding'? One from each person who cares to answer would be nice. Thanks!

1. god modding
The term god modding comes from roleplaying. God modding is creating a character who is of an invincible nature and can do anything. God modders are
also infamous for bunnying other characters' actions.
An example of god modding is making a spikey blonde hair character that can fly and toss energy balls that can level cities while being nigh
indestructable.
I think 'god modding' is what happens when a character is significantly more powerful than the proverbial bell curve.
Real god modding is when a character is unexplainably - 'for the sake of being' - given more power than the fair share they
should get, and the mun uses said power to abuse other characters for the sake of getting their jollies off.

everyone takes it differently. it's frequently used in fights, like my old TB days - usually the mun gets to choose what the character can do,
yes? god moding is said character never being hurt no matter what or going to outrageous lengths to say that so and so has been unscathed, while
damaging others. ie, an invincible person that abuses said invincibility. most charries here on KW are mortal and play as such.

I have to respectfully disagree with the whining bit. While its happened, we have a lot of spiffy muns on here who usually behave as such. ^_^ Almost
all muns have had a pc thrashed or often have volunteered for it, to work with stories and stuff. We're just that cool.
I consider god moding when reality is ignored to a stupid point, like Katii said. A lot of charrie's are with a few years of each other. Some
have very similiar background and training. This means in a fight with two of roughly similiar skills, there shouldn't be an untouchable person
that can't get hurt. Even for the tough guys, there's always someone more badass. Or someone that hits harder, while another does quick
spells and so on.
I consider god moding when a person /always/ has a better spell, always dodges and can never lose. Or they can never be touched and everyone else,
can ect. Some people definitely have better odds in their favor. Money, fighting ability, some buddies, ect. But with a lot of charrie's with
those things, there should be competition for the field and top honors. I guess I consider another aspect of god moding is when thats ignored and
people approach untouchable.
Let me know if this is clear enough, Art. I'm trying. ;)

hits, your damage is over the top, one or twohits able to take out the strongest opponents, and often you can run through walls, have all keys, have
access to things you haven't earned, etc.
and that pretty much sums up godmoding.
god moding in roleplay can also cover using ooc information your character has no way of knowing, showing up for events in which your character
shouldn't be able to appear, etc.
You can conceivably play a very powerful character without god moding, but it takes some measure of skill - and a willingness to lose if you actually
have someone get the drop on you.
Many people who play powerful characters (and are not the storytellers) often find it an appalling idea that they might ever lose - that's *why*
they took a very powerful character.

One of the reasons that I really wish I was more active with the players on this board---clearing up confusion and 'god modding' in whatever
form everyone sees it as.
Though I do not play this board very often if at all, I like being around and making the final decisions on things.
I know this sounds like I HAVE to have the final word.. and in a way its like I feel as if I should. [which, I admit, is unfair to say.]
But I hate it when unwritten rules are broken. Therefore, we need more rules, so I don't have to have final says! I like the fact that when I go
away for extended periods of time, this board runs itself.
However, in a way it seems to run itself in ways that make me unhappy.
What makes me unhappy, do you ask?
1. Rules being twisted, mangled and skewed.. just enough so that they still seem to stay within the wording, but are -obviously- not what the rule was
meaning to say. These things are called loopholes.. and they bother me.
2. Players upset at other players. No, this does not mean characters. This means that players refuse to speak to/absolutely despise other players. If
they met on the street, a catflight might result. This also leads to bashing behind people's backs.. something I cannot stand.
3. Me being upset. I have heard a great deal of you remark that you have never heard me swear, or that it takes alot to get me angry. Well, you would
be slightly right. When it comes to this board, I keep the most logical head I can... and relying strictly on logic means that I can always find a
reason to be calm.
Right now, my logic has led me to become upset. This means that ALOT of things have led up to this moment.
I am taking a short break from the boards... a span of two days. I will return on Tuesday after my counseling session and badminton, and before I give
blood. Please do not raise my bloodpressure and cause my vein to squirt all over me again.. I tend to like the clothes I wear out of doors.
Please take these two days to consider what may have bothered me, and what might fix it. When I return, I expect to see at least the beginnings of
some sort of list to this extent:
1. How can we revise the rules to exclude loopholes? If violations to the rules that use loopholes occur, how can we deal with them?
2. How can the admins work together to make larger decisions in relation to the board? Remember, the admins are listed at the bottom of every
page on this board. I understand that some are more active than others. The four most active admins need to speak more often. How can this happen?
3. Why might Art be upset? How can we avoid this in future times?
I will return on Tuesday afternoon. Please consider what I have said.

well... having 'plotting' sessions always is helpful. i've been in 3 different rp sort of things and the best thing to have is a sort
of weekly report - the storytellers/mods/admin whtever all meeting, talking about what's going on and so forth, posting problems, who to watch,
etc.
when you dont' have that, things start unravellng. have to have your admin talk to each other or ... you're not going to be cohesive.

No. Most animagus spaces are taken - I'm not even letting my own char have animagus status because there are so many currently. Also, you may
want to get an avatar that reflects your character.

That is, according to other sites, POWERMODING. When you have a character that is way to powerful for their age group, or skill level, or can do
unexplainable things without ever taking the required class, and can beat all the more experienced people.
Godmoding is more along the lines of when you dictate someone else's actions in your post.
EX: Kareena: Kareena hit Jane across the mouth, tearing her lip. She hit her again before jane could react, and watched her fall back, unconscious.
While hitting Jane and making her bleed is not godmoding, deciding she is unconscious IS, as is saying jane couldn't react in time to stop it.

since this thread dissolved into an argument, i took the liberty of answering some of these myself. feel free to add other questions that should be on
it, and once it seems complete, i will make a new thread in before you begin/rules as the final copy.
FAQs:

- The usual solution to this is that an administrator tried to contact you about something and didn't get a response. In the upper right hand corner
just below 'last active' is where you'll receive an alert if someone has sent you a u2u. u2us are the board's own system of personal e-mail, so, if
you registered incorrectly or used the sorting hat incorrectly, there's usually some kind of polite reminder that one of us has sent you in your u2u
box. To get your account active again, the fastest route is to re-register and u2u an admin, or contact one through AIM. Our AIM names are usually
located below our posts with the AOL logo.
…after I first register? [2]
- Post in the sorting hat. Inside are the questions necessary to answer for your character. If your character is not attending Hogwarts, leave the
house name and substitute the character's age for year. However, if this character is a vampire, veela, or anything of 'special' nature, you will need
permission.
…if my account is banned? [3]
- See above to suspended and assume it was suspended. If your account is flat out banned, oo-ooh, you were naughty. Sit in the corner and think about
what you did. Appeal to an admin if you feel you were wrongly banned. As stated, contact information is located at the bottom of any of our posts.

- It wont be a problem after this. Here are some typical acronyms:
RP: role play. playing the role of a character.
IC: in character. meaning, what you're writing is meant to be what your character is doing.
OOC: out of character. this can be used two ways - one, to indicate you are speaking out of character (not very necessary here, since that's why the
spam forums exist) and two, to comment on an action. ex: 'Sally was RPing Bellatrix, and when Bellatrix bought Harry a puppy, it was so OOC!' It is
OOC because Bellatrix is a canon (already created) character and she would never buy Harry a puppy, unless it was to shove it into him.
…when I am playing in one thread and want to play in another? [5]
- Knock yourself out. Just make sure you aren't messing with a timeline. ex: Billy can't talk to Bellatrix at the same time as being stabbed by
Voldemort, but you can write for the two threads at the same time.
…if I want to play a non-student character? [6]
- Again, knock yourself out. Just make sure that the non-student is plausible and makes sense.
…when I want to create my signature? [7]
- Familiarize yourself with the control panel. Your signature is near the bottom, and you can add all sorts of things - song lyrics, quotes, who/what
your character is, even images. Please try not to make it so large it distorts the board, though.
...when I want to talk to a super admin? [8]
The current lineup of easily accessible super admins are: Chance Lafayette, Nicholas Sparrow, Rowan Addicus and Sergei Korzhakov. This is subject to
change based on who goes on hiatus and who doesn't. We also have other names that we RP under, and you'll be able to tell which those are because they
are bolded, italicized, and underlined under the who's online section of the board (near the bottom). You may either u2u us or contact us via AIM.

- Talk to an admin, especially if it's character murder or something unfairly forced upon you/your character.

- God Moding, also called moding, ur a motor, being a douchebag, and 'modding', occasionally, is when one character forces an action upon another or
is unfairly powerful. Examples include knocking a character out with a lead pipe and adding something in about how that character collapses without
giving the player a chance to either dodge (within reason) or respond. Another is being unusually powerful or Godlike, such as beaming into buildings
or having ten million special powers that nobody else has. Why don't we allow this? It's boring. Yawn.

- Traditionally, have your character partake in class and answer something correctly within reason. (If Susie is a first year, she doesn't know how to
explain Theory of Magic to a tee. This is another form of moding.) They can also earn points for doing something good or outstanding.
