Registration :
Keep in mind that certain attitudes towards humanity will not be accepted here. If you register with an email address that contains racism, homophobia, sacrilege or anything of that nature, your IP will be recorded and your account deleted at the discretion of the administrators and followed up with a warning. Any offensive content whatsoever pertaining to lifestyles and/or race, religion, and everything contained will not be tolerated.
Creating Your Character:
First, you need a character name. What does this mean? It means a properly punctuated First and last name is required or your account will be warned, you will be asked to re-create, and then, if rules are not followed, deleted. This is the first step to playing on this board. Remember, spaces are allowed in creating usernames, so use them!
General Board Protocol:
Before you begin, please post in the sorting hat and fill out the criteria needed for playing your character. If you fail to do this before you begin RPing on the board, the consequences will be as follows:
1. You will receive a u2u (viewable in the upper right hand of your screen) reminding you that your next post must be in the Sorting Hat thread.
2. If this is ignored, you will be emailed and your account will be suspended.
Please read the notes on role playing and through some of the forums to get a general idea of how RP is conducted here before you begin. Any questions can be answered by any Super Admin who is u2u’ed. Don’t be afraid to ask!
Content:
Though this board is based loosely on the world of Harry Potter, ©JK Rowling and WB, there are a great deal of differences. Though many of the differences you will learn as you explore the boards, the main ones are important to mention off the bat.
Some threads on this board contain mature content. Your characters may do anything with one another so long as it is clearly labeled. The administrative staff is not responsible for something you see. Be aware; if it seems like the thread your reading is getting hot-and-heavy, and you don't want to see some boy-on-boy or boy-on-girl, or girl-on-girl action, then skip ahead. The administration will decide what is unacceptable and what isn't, but if something really gets under your skin, feel free to PM one of us.
However, do not take this to mean that every thread has inappropriate parts to it. There are a great deal of members who do not engage in such RP, including the head admin. If you are looking for non smutty RP, you do not need to look far, simply start your own thread and wait, or make friends with others and ask to play with them.
OOC:
Please do not spam RP threads with OOC (out of character) content. We have never had a major problem with this, however it needs to be stated here. You are free to say whatever you like out of character in the OOC forum to your heart's delight. (Please do, actually~)
Role Play:
Since some plot lines take a few days/weeks to complete, there's no use tying your character up the entire time and not contributing to anything else. Your character can be in a total of three places at once so long as nothing completely eclipses another; ie: it is essential that so-and-so is somewhere and suddenly is somewhere else during that exact same time in the day. Just make sure wherever your char is fits into the board timeline.
There is a requirement, however, of how many threads you can post in at once. We ask that you restrict yourself to ten threads at a time. There are times when this rule can be changed for a specific thread, however we consider this spam as well, and it will not be tolerated. If you begin playing in too many threads at once there is a chance that you may neglect certain plot lines.
Posting:
This is one of the most important sections to many of our members. We request that 1. you follow all RP rules diagramed in another RULES thread, and 2. you follow all proper grammar and spelling conventions to the best of your ability. If you do not do so you will be warned in the thread, then u2u’ed, and then proper rules for banning may follow.
Signature:
Your signature must contain your character's full name [which should mirror your username], your character's house and year in school [exceptions are made for those who are not attending school] and your mun. If you do not follow this rule you will be asked kindly to do so.
Avatar Size:
Your avatar size should be [b]no larger than 150px wide and 300px tall[/b]. If we find your avatar in violation of this, we, the admin staff will ask you to change it. If this does not happen, it will be removed. You can re-link a smaller version when you are able.
If you want a character that is NOT a student, or a character that is not a full blood human, you are required to contact an administrator before posing in the Sorting Hat. Please contact a super administrator (Nicholas Sparrow and Chance Lafayette are the two admin players who are most often online) and okay your character. So basically, if you want a staff member or a vampire or, well, anything more exotic than a normal little boy or girl, please clear it with someone.
It would be beneficial to any new players to read the "Game Discussion" threads (there's a forum at the bottom of the main page, right above the "Spam" forum), most notably the stickied ones. They will provide background information and some of the finer notes of our gameplay. Thanks!
